Choosing a Mentor

If you are selected as a Beckman Scholar , you must choose a faculty member affiliated with the program to serve as your research mentor. You will not specify who you want to work with in your application. If you are fortunate enough to be chosen as a Beckman Scholar, we will then ask which research group you wish to join

The Beckman Mentors

The members of the Beckman Scholar Faculty Mentor group were selected for their track records in teaching and research, and in particular for their work with undergraduate researchers. Additionally, the group was chosen to provide a good cross-section of the different research strengths within our department. For the 2007-10 funding period, we were allowed to expand our mentor list to 15, and have widened the membership to faculty within the Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Studies Committee, meaning we have several non-department affiliated professors on our list now.
